It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of another year! It seems like yesterday we were kicking off the umpteenth JCBank Friday Night Live concert series, with Schuler Bauer Real Estate Services co-sponsoring this year. Soon enough it was time for art camp, which had so much demand that a fourth week was added and there are talks of a fifth week for 2024! As we headed into fall, we had a community Artful Fair, sponsored by Bob Poynter GM, which brought a lot of families to the SICA campus for the first time to partake in carnival games, a petting zoo and some arts and crafts. We hosted our inaugural Fright at the Museum, co-hosted by Roamin’ Soldier Productions and sponsored by All-Phase Electric Supply of Seymour, Cardinal Farms of Seymour, LLC, Yummies by K, Speedy Shred and The Garage, in October with an overwhelming turnout and plans are being made for October 2024!

Betty Johnson continues pottery instruction in our pottery studio from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays. This year marked her 15th year with SICA! Anyone is welcome to stop by during this open studio time, but you may also call ahead or text to reserve your spot, (812) 522-2278. Discounts are available to members.

We have also been getting the upstairs of our facility remodeled into classroom spaces to allow our main floor to return to a traditional gallery with regular shows. Currently, private lessons are held during the week, and it is definitely a working art studio throughout the main floor. As we head into 2024, we have a variety of classes on the schedule, see enclosed, and a Valentine’s Fundraiser Dinner in the works for Friday, February 9, at The Pines in Seymour.

You can renew your membership at the center during operating hours or send in a payment to the center. Please let us know of any questions you might have, or if you would like to chat about programming ideas or becoming a volunteer.
